"We hope to reach new heights of collaboration in high-technology" - Sibal
10th Technology Summit & Technology Platform was organized jointly by CII and ILTP (DST) with Russia as partner country. A large delegation (approx. 50 Nos.) of Russian Scientists presented and showcased their technologies in the Summit and the exposition (200 Sq. Mtrs.) and more than 400 delegates and 30 exhibitors from Indian organizations participated in the Summit.
Mr. Kapil Sibal, Hon’ble Minister for Science & Technology and Ocean Development, while inaugurating the Summit mentioned that this Summit is historic in the sense that this is the first time there is a 3-pronged collaboration between CII, Govt. of India and a Partner Country. Technologies like gas hydrates extracted from the ice-bergs from ocean can provide a terrific alternate source of energy.
Prof. C N R Rao while delivering the key-note address highlighted the main achievements of ILTP in terms of exchange of scientists for research, reports etc; Centres like CDAC, ARCI, Centres in Biotechnology, Immunology etc. Prof. V S Ramamurthy, Secretary DST, mentioned that the Summit is a milestone achievement in S&T collaboration between India and Russia.
CII was represented by Mr. Pawan Munjal, Chairman, CII National Committee on Technology & Innovation & MD, Hero Honda Motors Ltd. and Mr. Deepak Puri, Co-Chairman of the Committee and CMD, Moser Baer India Ltd. Both of them reiterated industry’s commitment in collaboration with Russia.



Mr. Nikolay Kudashev, Charge de Affairs, Embassy of Russian Federation in New Delhi, mentioned that S&T cooperation is a cornerstone of strategic partnership between the countries. More than 3000 projects have been identified and 180 projects are underway under ILTP Program. An agreement on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was signed by Mr. Vladimir Putin in 2002 – which is a proof of the legalization of our efforts. As on records, approx. twenty numbers of technology tie-ups with Russian counter-parts were initiated in the Summit. Earlier to the Summit, CII was also inducted as a member of Indo-Russia joint council on ILTP.
